Grace’s Smoothie Bowl Recipe
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and is key for starting your day off the right way. However, finding a healthy, balanced meal that also tastes great can be difficult. I was always looking for something to eat for breakfast that had a lot of nutrients and didn’t take an hour to make (I am always running late in the morning). One day I decided to try and make one of these smoothie bowls that I had heard of. I threw ingredients into a blender and now I have eaten one for breakfast pretty much every day since, sometimes I even eat them at night when I want something sweet but healthy! This recipe is quick, easy, healthy and incredibly delicious!
One of the best parts of this recipe is that it has very few ingredients. The smoothie bowl itself only consists of 3 ingredients and then you can add as many toppings as you like! For the smoothie base, I use frozen bananas, frozen mixed berries and vanilla unsweetened almond milk. The frozen berries you can buy from any grocery store and the bananas I freeze myself. Usually I cut them up at night, put them in the freezer and then they are ready to use by the morning. You can also use any type of milk that you like. I prefer almond milk but oat milk or regular dairy milk would also work. Then I blend all those ingredients together, I use a Magic Bullet blender but anything will work. The consistency of the smoothie base should be thicker than a normal smoothie (think ice cream consistency!). After that comes the best part…toppings!! I love to top my smoothie bowls with any type of granola, chocolate chips, peanut butter and shredded coconut. However, you can also top it with more fresh fruit, nuts, chia seeds or anything else you like! Whatever toppings you choose, this recipe is full of nutrients and so good for your health. Give this yummy recipe a try!
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup frozen berries
- 3/4 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk (or milk of your choice)
Utensils
- A blender
- A sharp knife
Instructions
- Put the frozen banana, frozen berries and milk into the blender.
- Blend on the highest setting. If the larger pieces of fruit are not blending properly, use a knife to cut the fruit into smaller pieces. Shake the blender to move the fruit around.
- Continue blending until the consistency of the smoothie base is thick, not runny and resembles the thickness of ice cream.
- Pour the base into a bowl and put on your favorite toppings.
- Enjoy!
Makes 1 large smoothie bowl.
This is so amazing, I now swear by this recipe!! Definitely one of those meals that tastes so good and feels so good after eating!
