July 30, 2021
Hi everyone! For those of you that don’t know I got married just about a month ago! As this month has passed, I have had time to reflect on the most perfect day and wanted to share that with you all! Luke and I got married on July 30, 2021. We had our ceremony at St. Mary’s Church and due to some restrictions related to the pandemic ultimately decided to have our reception at Luke’s parents house. This turned out to be the absolute best decision for us and everything turned out amazing! We had a large wedding with around 240 guests, the tent was HUGE lol! Now lets recap the most amazing day ever!
The girls and I got ready at a local hotel. We had spent the night there the night before and our hair and makeup girls came right to our hotel room. Hair and makeup began around 9am and we spent the morning getting dolled up, drinking mimosas and talking the day away! We were finally all ready around 4pm and our amazing photographer took some photos of us getting ready. Once we were all dressed and ready, we headed down to the limo that took us the church. On my way down, I had my “first look” with my dad right in the hotel lobby. This was one of the most special moments of the day and I highly recommend doing this if you are getting married! My amazing aunt also met us at the hotel with all of our bouquets. My aunt did all of the flowers for the entire wedding and reception. They came out even better than I could have ever imagined! After we got our flowers, my parents, myself and the girls got in the limo and headed over to the church. On the other hand, the boys had their own hotel room and arrived there around 1pm. Becca, our photographer, took some photos of the guys getting ready as well. Once the photos were taken, the guys relaxed and hung out until it was time for them to make their way to the church. Around 4pm, they put their suits back on and headed to the church. Oh the difference of guys and girls getting ready!
Once the limo arrived at the church, we could see all the guest heading into the church. My mom and all the bridesmaids headed in as my dad and I waited on the limo until right before 5pm so that we made sure I stayed hidden until I was walking down the aisle. At 5pm sharp our ceremony started. I surprisingly wasn’t nervous at all which is so not like me! As I turned the corner to walk down the aisle with my dad by my side, I could see Luke, all of my girls and all of the amazing people that came to celebrate us that day. I was so humbled at all of the people there for us to witness this next chapter in our lives. Our wedding coordinator at the church told us a few days before the wedding to make sure that we had eye contact when I was walking down the aisle and I truly don’t think my eyes left Luke the entire way down the aisle, I was to nervous to look anywhere else! We had an amazing catholic mass and were officially married! We took a few family photos at the church and then it was time to party! The wedding party loaded into the party bus and headed to the reception! We got some photos at MacKenzie Childs with our wedding party before heading into the tent for our reception.
When we arrived at the tent, cocktail hour was in full swing! Our parents, our bridal party and Luke and I were officially announced into the tent. After we were announced, we went right into our dances. Luke and I danced to the song One Call Away (Acoustic). This was another one of my favorite memories of the day. Following that dance, my dad and I danced to Half the Man. I was so happy to be able to share this moment with my dad and definitely had to hold back my tears. Luke and his momma danced to the song Mother by Sugarland. Once the dances were over, it was time to eat. We had so many guests that our caterer suggested that we do two buffet lines! I think this definitely helped get everyone through in a timely manner which is what we wanted! After dinner we had the Best Man and Maid of Honor speeches. Luke’s older brother was his best man and had a fantastic speech where he even included words from their other brother who was unable to be there as he is in the Navy as well as was unable to get leave to make it home. This was so special to have words from two of his brothers on our special day. My sister and maid of honor spoke next. I was already tearing up during the best man speech, little did I know there would be so many more tears during my sisters speech. My sister, my best friend wrote the most special speech and I am so proud of her and the amazing speech she gave! My dad thanked everyone for coming and especially thanked all the men and women serving our country and those of Luke’s military friends who were able to be there to celebrate with us. The last thing that we had to do before dancing the night away was cut our cake. Luke and I cut our cake made by my grandmother and fed each other cake without smooshing it in anyone’s face! After this we spent the rest of the evening dancing, singing and hanging out with our favorite people! This truly was the most fun night of our lives, and I think lots of people had fun since our bartender ran out of alcohol which had never happened to him before lol! Luke and I are so blessed to share this story with you and we can’t thank all our amazing family and friends for celebrating with us and putting in countless hours to make our wedding day perfect!
